Density decision handoff
This package translates the interface-density research into a working set for design-system practitioners. It is intended to help a product designer, design-system designer, engineer, and accessibility partner move from evidence to a governed pilot without treating proposed values or architecture as settled.
What this package supports
- Understanding the density problem and the public architectural precedents.
- Separating research findings from the current PDS proposal.
- Auditing PDS component geometry and bindings.
- Comparing viable density mechanisms using shared criteria.
- Planning a representative pilot.
- Recording decisions, exclusions, risks, and unresolved questions.
It does not define production density values. The current PDS snapshot does not preserve the complete Figma alias and component-binding graph, so that graph and the component metric inventory remain prerequisites.
Recommended reading path
Before the working session
- Decision brief
- Cross-system comparison
- Density token-model analysis
- PDS density architecture proposal
Use individual system reports and the practitioner token views when evidence needs to be audited in more detail.
During the working session
- Use the workshop guide to establish scope and review the proposal.
- Use the architecture option worksheet to compare mechanisms without collapsing them into product themes.
- Begin the component metric inventory.
- Record provisional decisions in the decision record.
After the working session
- Complete the component and Figma binding audit.
- Update unresolved decisions with evidence.
- Use the pilot plan to prototype and validate representative components.
- Do not generate production compact values until the participating metrics, constraints, and aliases are known.

Evidence boundary
Research claims remain in the system reports and synthesis documents. These handoff files organize those claims for decision-making; they do not add external-system values or represent workshop prompts as research findings.
